Offensive comics

It's difficult to be objective about the recent furor over the cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Mohamed. Making fun of the cherished beliefs of others in not good form.

While I can understand that these cartoons would not be welcomed by Muslims, I don't understand why they feel that violent destructive protest, and the burning of Danish embassies is appropriate and justified. How can Muslims, who take offense at every perceived insult, engage in attacking the faiths and values of others? They certainly do not have the reputation of being peacemakers, and ambassadors of good will. Are they the champions of tolerance and sensitivity that they seem to demand of others?

If they were, this world would be a much more peaceful place.

I've seen one of the cartoons, and frankly, I've seen much worse attacks on Jesus. Yet Christians don't respond by burning buildings, and rioting in the streets. Perhaps it's because we know that Jesus is well able to defend his honor and reputation if he chooses to do so. But he doesn't. He loves his enemies, and died for them.

Koran: And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers.

Bible: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Koran: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.

Bible:For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Folks... there is a difference.
